FOR THE BEST RESULTS PLEASE FOLLOW THE FOLLOWING GUIDELINES
Do not work out 24 hours prior to your appointment
NO caffeine or alcohol - Avoid caffeine and alcohol consumption at least 24 hours prior to the appointment. They can make the skin more sensitive, leading to bleeding or discomfort during the procedure, and can dehydrate the skin, affecting the final result. Drinking water is recommended to keep the skin hydrated and healthy.
STOP blood thinners - Blood-thinning medication/supplements increase the risk of bleeding during a PMU procedure, which could affect the final results. Examples of blood-thinning supplements include fish oil, vitamin E, and omega-3. It's crucial to avoid these supplements for at least 48 hours before the appointment. It's recommended to consult with a doctor before discontinuing any medication or supplement and take Tylenol or acetaminophen instead. Safety is a priority during the PMU appointment.
NO anti-aging or acne cream including Retinol/Retin-A - Retinol and Retin-A can thin the skin and increase sensitivity, leading to excessive bleeding and skin irritation during permanent makeup procedures. Avoid using these products for at least a week before the appointment and follow pre-care instructions provided by the artist to minimize risks and complications. Taking care of the skin before and after the procedure can lead to long-lasting and beautiful results.
AVOID sunbathing or sunbeds - Before appointments, avoid sunbathing or using sunbeds for at least 7 days to prevent skin damage that might affect the results of certain procedures. Wear protective clothing and apply high SPF sunscreen when outdoors to protect your skin. These precautions will ensure the benefits of your appointment without any complications.
NO facials, chemical peels or microdermabrasion - Before getting pmu done, avoid anything that can cause skin irritation or sensitivity for at least 4 weeks. This ensures that the skin is in the best condition for the procedure. Also, refrain from using any harsh skincare products to prevent complications or negative effects on the skin.
NO botox or fillers - To ensure accurate application of pigment, it's recommended to wait four weeks after receiving Botox or fillers before scheduling a permanent makeup appointment. Injectables can alter the shape and texture of the face, making it difficult to assess the natural state of the skin. This waiting period allows the skin to settle and regain its natural appearance for optimal results.
So by sticking to these simple guidelines, you can ensure that your permanent makeup will be a stunning success and last you a lifetime!
VERY IMPORTANT: If you're prone to cold sores, you'll need to start taking an antiviral prescription at least 1 week before your appointment. You will also want to start a lip scrub once a day for 3 days prior to your appointment so that your lips are prepped and doesn't have a rough texture. This will prevent proper pigment saturation and poor healed result.
